The Messy Beautiful

I didn’t post anything for April.
I had images for April, but I never got around to hitting publish.
The house has been undergoing a bit of a transformation and there is dust everywhere. What was supposed to be a week long project has turned into a month long project. Wedding season started in April and then in May was full steam ahead. I am just now coming up for air. Although, now that the dust has settled, there’s still so much more to do.

It’s funny. That’s not how I envisioned it at all.

Still, it’s time for another personal post and this time it includes a little bit of April and May.

All of these images were freelensed. Freelensing is a photography technique in which the lens is detached from the camera body while you shoot. I’ve committed to posting a set of personal freelensed images once a month. Personally, this project is about documenting the everyday, messy, beautiful stuff I love so much. I get great joy in not thinking too hard about setting up these images and making them perfect. Like the technique, it’s quite liberating — If you like what you see, take a look at fellow freelenser, Julie’s blog post. Each month this group has also committed to posting our favorite freelensed images on the same day every month.

I love these so much! I feel you with being busy – between my main career as a RN, side gig as a photographer, and time with family I feel like I have absolutely no time for me or playing catch up. Lovely post my dear <3 I love your tones (may I ask what you edit with – presets?).

Oh those arcade lights! The shot of your son in front of the wheel is just magical. Gorgeous collection!
